Our Thoughts on Wedding Content Creators

And why are are welcoming them onto the wedding scene

Historically, weddings have always had photographers. Then, video started to gain popularity as the tech got better and easier (more affordable) to learn. In the last year or so, a new form of wedding content creation has popped onto the scene. Now, standing alongside the photo and video team, is sometimes a content creator. When I first started seeing content specialists, my guard went up and I felt defensive and protective of my video business. I have slowly watched as things evolved, as the wedding industry always does, and have formally changed my mind!

First and foremost, I have never been someone who thought I needed to book every bride. I believe our couples are our couples for a reason – our personalities, style, wants, and likes should be in alignment. Our couples want something not just for now, but for 20 years from now. They want a story, a living legacy, to be able to sit down and watch something.

Content creators are not focused on the story as much as on each individual moment. In my mind, they are present and now-focused. Social media is for now, it’s for friends, it’s for Instagram and TikTok. I love it for all that it is, and I think it’s awesome to have someone there to document the aesthetic and cute moments, because weddings have so many! This is why I welcome content creators to shoot next to me on weddings. It brings a new perspective, captures the day in a way I cannot, and ultimately makes the couple happy. Win win win!

I also love content creators because it gives brides who maybe don’t care as much about investing in video another option. It’s not just a yes or no anymore, it can be a maybe. Maybe I don’t want to invest thousands into my wedding film, but at least I will have some moving picture that can bring me back to the moments. And that makes us smile, because that’s exactly what we want for those brides!

Ultimately, I am a big supporter of content creators. I have met some amazing ones in the last few months and I would gladly work alongside them any day.
