And why it was the sweetest venue and day ever
My sister got married!!!
I’d like to think my wedding in 2020 walked so my sister’s could run. I had a destination wedding a few miles from our home in Venice, Florida, and it absolutely down-poured on us right as guests were walking in. Katey settled on Tennessee, but it rained in the morning and then cleared up so that we could all have the outdoor ceremony and reception we had dreamed of.
Something different that Katey did was invite everyone to the rehearsal dinner and then opened up the microphone for anyone to speak. By the day of the wedding, everyone already had an introduction and the dance floor was full of people from both sides! Katey also chose to do her own makeup, and we loved watching her soak in all of the emotions that today was her day.
We worked with Vintage Floral Designs to create the most awesome towers to frame their ceremony and it turned out so perfect. (And can I say I wish I could worked with Tennessee vendors all the time? Talking with them was so fun; we felt the TN charm and loved the accents).
Taking portraits here was such a dream, too! All us flat state people need is a nice mountain backdrop and we are in heaven. The venue had the perfect look-out spot already paved for us to use. It’s so rare to have 0 houses or anything else blocking the view, so this was a treat.
It’s so helpful to *not* be the videographer sometimes. You remember WHY the moments we work so hard to capture matter so much. I felt the nerves and I cried the tears and I jumped for joy seeing my sister in her wedding gown. This day was a (career and life) highlight for us. Enjoy our highlight we created 🙂
